Law firm Stephenson Harwood LLP has advised S&P Global on its acquisition of TeraHelix Ltd, a financial technology firm specialising in advanced data modelling, linking, and reconciliation services, leveraging AI technology.

The acquisition strengthens S&P Global’s capabilities in data, technology and AI by enhancing its ability to link datasets across classes and platforms. TeraHelix’s technology improves data interoperability and simplifies integration with a range of implementation technologies, expanding access, connectivity and insights across company, security, people and asset level data.

The transaction builds on a longstanding partnership between S&P Global and TeraHelix, whose technology has played a key role in developing Gearbox, S&P Global’s large language model-powered data linking and matching solution.

The cross-practice team was led by corporate partner Tom Platts and supported by Of Counsel Helen Rhind-Hufnagel, and Associates Harry Wilson and Anya Parekh. Further advice was provided by Tax Partner Shofiq Miah, Managing Associate Byul McPhee and Associate Ruth Hainsworth regarding tax issues specific to the transaction; Employment Partner Richard Freedman and Associate Aaron Pooni; Pensions Of Counsel Naeem Noor; and Intellectual Property, Tech and Data Partners Katie Hewson and Alexandra Pygall, and Associates Alice Routh, Bobbie Bickerton and Matthew Angell.
