Mateusz regularly acts for insurers and reinsurers over a wide range of classes of business, from hull & machinery (marine and war risks) through cargo, trade credit and political risk and violence, to P&I and other marine liabilities (e.g. ports and terminals).

In recent years, Mateusz has advised insurers in the context of some of the most high-profile casualties, including numerous significant war risks claims in different jurisdictions. He has also handled major cargo misappropriation claims, defended insurers in high-value cross-border environmental pollution actions, and successfully represented insurers in various reinsurance disputes, including one arising under the top layer of what is reported to be the largest reinsurance program in the world.
