Julien Vandenbussche is a partner in the Paris office and leads the Investment Funds formation practice.

With nearly 20 years of experience, Julien assists his French and international with the establishment and representation of investment funds, including private equity funds, impact funds, continuation funds, infrastructure, mezzanine, secondaries, venture, real estate, funds of funds, debt funds and dedicated funds, as well as establishing management or advisory companies.

He advises sponsors and investors in their primary and secondary investments in funds, as well as advises clients on regulatory matters, relationships with regulators, and with the implementation of incentive schemes (carried interest or others).

He is the trusted advisor of top tier actors of the funds market and his experience as general counsel at Tikehau provides him with a keen understanding of the strategic, commercial, and operational concerns of the sector.

Member of the Legal Committee of France Invest since 2009 and of the Regulatory and Legal Committee of Invest Europe since 2020, Julien is actively involved in the law-making process applicable to the asset management sector.

Julien regularly speaks in professional conferences and teaches investment funds law courses at the Paris I – Sorbonne University.

Advised Bpifrance in relation to the creation of FKF, a French-Kuwaiti private equity co-investment fund.

Advised Andera Partners with respect to the structuring of “ACI-I-FPCI” and “ACI-I-Vintage FPCI”, respectively a French master and feeder private equity co-investment fund with EUR 100 million of target commitments.

Advised Alter Equity on the establishment of Alter Equity Fund 3 (art.9 SFDR Fund), a French impact private equity fund aiming financing ESG transition with EUR 180 million of target commitments.

Advised Bpifrance Investissement on the establishment of a private equity co-investment fund with a Middle-East sovereign fund, with 600 million of commitments.

Advised Bridgepoint on the establishment of their French based investment vehicles (BE VI, BDC IV).

Advised Swen Capital Partners with respect to the structuring of “FPCI Swen Mezz Flex 3”, a French mezzanine debt fund with a commitment target of EUR 65 million and whose objective is to finance, mainly through bonds, quasi-equity and equity instruments, growing and profitable European SMEs and ETIs.

Advising Bridgepoint in connection with the establishment of FPCI Bridgepoint Europe VI, FPCI Bridgepoint Europe VII and FPCI BDC IV.

Advising Access Capital Partners in connection with its investments in more than 15 French and foreign private equity funds.

Advising Bpifrance Investissement in connection with the establishment of FPCI French Tech Seed, FPCI Fonds de Fonds Growth, FPCI France PME Régions, FPCI Fonds d’Avenir Soutien Tourisme.

Advising the funds of funds group of Bpifrance Investissement in connection with its investments in more than 30 foreign private equity tech funds. 

Advising Conquest in connection with the establishment of a pan-European incentive scheme.

Advising Sparring Capital in connection with the establishment of FPCI Sparring Capital Funds II.

Advised Eurazeo connection with a €200 million GP-lead secondary transaction with Pantheon as sponsor, involving the establishment of a French continuation fund.

Advised AXA France and Axa Climate, in their capacity of leading investors of EUR 100 million, as part of the structuring of REGENERATIVE AGRICULTURE FUND SLP a French and Luxembourg fund managed by Tikehau Investment Management SAS with a commitment target of EUR 1 billion and whose objective is to invest in portfolio companies or projects with a sound business model that contribute to make the transition to regenerative agriculture happen.
