Archie is a property lawyer with extensive experience acting on commercial transactions for banks, alternative lenders and borrowers, and on high-value residential matters for both lenders and individuals. Clients appreciate Archie's calm and efficient approach and dedication to finding practical and commercially sensible solutions to enable a transaction to proceed as smoothly as possible.

Archie is part of the firm's decarbonisation focus group and has particular specialism in advising lenders and borrowers on green and sustainability-linked loans.

Archie has broad experience across the real estate sector, particularly real estate finance and high-end residential.

In the residential space, he advises high net worth individuals on all aspects of high-value residential matters including acquisitions, sales, financings and lettings. Archie leads the firm's residential property team.

In the finance spectrum he has advised a large number of domestic and international lenders on financings and re-financings (both investment and development) where property is the principle secured asset.

Individual client

Advised a high net worth individual on the purchase of a newly constructed Thames-side apartment in Fulham.

Belgravia sale

Acted for the seller of a long-leasehold property in Lennox Gardens, Belgravia. The sale included the assignment of various warranties and the discharge of associated security.

Sale of Kensington flat and management company share

Advised the seller (an Isle of Man SPV company) on a £2.6 million sale of a leasehold flat in Kensington, with associated sale of share in management company. The transaction was complicated by the need to agree the form of a new lease to be granted simultaneously with completion of the sale.

Refinance of two Belgravia properties

Acting for a lender on the refinance of two Belgravia properties with a combined value of c.£22 million, owned by BVI SPV companies. Work involved includes agreeing form of loan and security documentation and carrying out property due diligence.

Advising lenders on the property aspects of acquisition and development financings and re-financings. This includes carrying out property due diligence on behalf of the lender, advising on the property holding structure and ensuring a sufficient and robust security package is provided.

Borrower side

Acting for corporate vehicles raising funds for property purchases, redevelopments or refinancings. Archie's experience of acting for lenders and knowing their requirements and expectations means he is well placed to prepare property reports and deal with the property aspects of a financing for a borrower.

Security review

Advising lenders on the strength and enforceability of existing security, and assisting lenders seeking to participate in existing loans.

Acted for the joint administrators on the sale of Bolton Wanderers Football club to Football Ventures (Whites) Limited, with security being arranged over the assets of the club, including the stadium (2019).

Pub restructuring

Advised on the restructuring of a large pub company with an estate of nearly 200 pubs.

Various trustees

Advised various trustees in bankruptcy on property disposals and realisation of property assets.

Advised the lender on a £160 million accordion debt facility to Supermarket Income REIT plc, for the acquisition of a portfolio of UK supermarket assets.


Advised the lender on a £46 million loan to a Jersey SPV, secured over a multi-let City of London office block (2020).

National Westminster Bank Plc

Advised lender on a £50 million revolving facility to an English SPV secured over a mixed portfolio of eight UK income producing properties (2020).

Cell Medica (Kuur Therapeutics)

Advised on a range of property related matters including bespoke arrangements for occupying laboratory space in a London hospital and a collaboration agreement for shared research space.

Pharmaceutical client

Advising a pharmaceutical client on taking a lease of new premises in Surrey.

International pharmaceutical client

Advised on research centre sharing arrangements and property portfolio managements for this international healthcare company that specialises in development of critical care products.
