Stephenson Harwood builds on private wealth practice in Singapore with arrival of Suzanne Johnston as partner

Law firm Stephenson Harwood LLP has strengthened its international private wealth capabilities with the arrival of partner Suzanne Johnston in the firm's Singapore office.

Johnston specialises in international tax and wealth planning, with a focus on advising high net worth individuals, professional trustees, family offices and private banks based in the UK and Asia. She has in-depth experience across different practice areas within private wealth, and in multiple jurisdictions across the Asia Pacific region, bolstered by having lived and worked in the region for nearly a decade. She joins from UBS.

“Singapore is an attractive location for ultra-high net worth families and there has been an influx of family offices relocating here in recent years,” said Martin Green, Singapore office managing partner, Stephenson Harwood. “That shift has led to a growing demand for the type of private wealth expertise that Suzanne brings. Being able to provide English law expertise, building on the Singapore law capability we already have in our formal alliance with Virtus Law, enables us to support our clients on a broader range of work. Her arrival marks an exciting chapter in the development of the Stephenson Harwood (Singapore) Alliance with Virtus.”

“Expanding the firm's private wealth capabilities in Asia is a strategic focus for the firm and the addition of a lawyer of Suzanne’s calibre reflects that," said Jenny McKeown, head of Stephenson Harwood’s employment, pensions and private wealth practice group. “Suzanne's international experience - advising clients in multiple jurisdictions - not only enhances our existing international offering, but provides new opportunities for the team, as we continue to grow our practice in Asia.”

Stephenson Harwood's international private wealth team offers clients a wide range of services – including succession planning, tax planning, wealth structuring and asset protection – and acts for a number of family offices, ultra-high-net-worth individuals and trustees.
