Stephenson Harwood advises Chavereys on its combination with Burgess Hodgson
Law firm Stephenson Harwood LLP has advised Chavereys, a specialist accountancy and advisory firm, on its combination with Burgess Hodgson.
The transaction brings together two established accountancy and advisory businesses, creating a professional services group with turnover of £40 million and a team of 300 people. Headquartered in Kent, Chavereys is recognised for its specialist work with rural businesses, farms and estates, food producers, renewable energy businesses and private clients.
Both Chavereys and Burgess Hodgson focus on relationship-led advice and view the combination as an opportunity to provide clients with access to a broader range of expertise while maintaining the personal service and continuity on which both firms have built their businesses.
Nick Holmes, CEO of Chavereys, said:
“We appointed Stephenson Harwood and specifically Sam Gray following a recommendation from the tactical lead at a global insurance business. Sam and his team were simply superb, technical excellence combined with practical and commercial nous that is so rare in modern professional services. This is our first transaction with Sam and the team and going forward they will form the core of our advisory team as we build the business.”
The Stephenson Harwood team was led by Corporate Partner Sam Gray, with assistance from Samuel Tyler and Justin Chu. Further support was provided by Kate Worthington, Nicholas Stretch and Luc Foley from the Tax and Incentives team.
