He has a strong focus on marine and international trade matters, and also handles non-contentious work in that sector. He is fluent in Mandarin and his matters often bear a Chinese element.

He acts in trade, charterparty, offshore, and ship financing disputes for Clubs, owners, charterers, traders, financiers, and other market participants. Another part of Justin's practice is non-contentious, drafting and negotiating commercial and maritime contracts, such as shipbuilding contracts, long-term charters, and long-term supply contracts. Outside the marine and international trade sector, Justin's high-value commercial disputes experience includes shareholders', aviation, cryptocurrency, and construction disputes.

Justin is legally qualified in Singapore, Hong Kong, and England & Wales. He was based in Hong Kong from 2014-2018. He is on the Hong Kong International Arbitration Centre's List of Arbitrators and the Singapore Chamber of Maritime Arbitration's Panel of Arbitrators, and is a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators and Supporting Member of the London Maritime Arbitrators Association.

Acting for a Chinese leasing company on various sale and leaseback and operating lease projects, such as providing legal services for the operating lease of nine bulk carriers (four newbuildings and five second-hand ones), involving contracts for shipbuilding , time lease, supervision, management, etc.

Acting for a Chinese leasing company on a joint venture project in relation to a long term LNG time charter.

Acting for an international bank in a dispute arising from the collapse of a Singapore oil trader.

Acting for a major Singaporean company in relation to the restructuring of long-term charters for dozens of bulk carriers.
