Power and renewables

Our specialist power and renewables team advises on the development, financing, acquisition and divestment of power projects and businesses. Technologies run from conventionals through renewables to energy from waste projects.
  • Profile
  • Experience
  • Key contacts

We advise across the whole power sector including:

  • structuring power projects

  • asset/corporate M&A
  • construction contracts
  • power purchase arrangements
  • EPC and O&M contracts
  • fuel supply, transportation and connection agreements
  • energy from waste projects
  • energy regulatory
  • planning and environmental issues
  • real estate
  • equipment finance
  • dispute resolution.

Stephenson Harwood advises clients across the full spectrum of renewable energy:

  • biofuels
  • solar
  • marine power
  • energy storage
  • cleantech projects
  • hydrogen.

The lawyers you choose to work with on your renewable energy projects need to have a deep understanding of renewables. They must also have an appreciation of the impact of de-carbonisation incentives, and the wider political landscape in which renewable energy operates.

"The team have worked hard to get to know the ins and outs of our business, which has helped form a collaborative relationship where they are viewed internally as almost being a limb of our own legal team (in particular areas). This has proved vital in scenarios where quick understanding of our frequently arising issues and risk profile/appetite are required for urgent advice."
