Hydrogen

Despite hydrogen having only been identified as a key part of the global transition to net zero greenhouse gas emissions over the last number of years, our team has a market leading understanding of the hydrogen sector built upon expertise gained from decades advising clients on onshore and offshore energy and more recently, representing a number of the largest and most exciting hydrogen companies in the UK and EU.

Successfully undertaking any hydrogen project requires a diverse range of legal disciplines. Our energy team combines comprehensive know-how in all relevant legal areas with profound, real-world industry knowledge. We deliver practical, commercial legal advice for every aspect of your business whether you are a small technology start-up or a global player.
  • Profile
  • Experience
  • Key contacts

We have a multi-disciplinary team of experts who have experience of working with energy companies who are already heavily involved in the hydrogen sector and those who are transitioning to hydrogen. Our clients include service companies, contractors, insurers, funders, banks, clean tech start-ups, SMEs and developers.

Our decades of onshore and offshore energy experience combined with dealing with specialist hydrogen clientele enables us to provide market leading advice to clients involved in or considering becoming involved in hydrogen.

Our practice has already advised on the following hydrogen projects and transactions:

  • Corporate and project financing
  • Acquisitions
  • EPC contracts
  • Mass storage and transportation solutions
  • Dispute resolution
  • Transition projects
  • Pre-feasibility studies and agreements
  • Power purchase agreements
  • Full feasibility studies and agreements
  • Equipment and asset leasing arrangements

In addition, the practice advises in relation to certain highly specialised areas that few international energy practices can replicate such as offshore contracting matters and maritime. These specialist areas complement our hydrogen expertise to enable us to provide a full range of legal advice to those operating in the offshore hydrogen sector.

Clients include Sizewell C, Corre Energy, Highview Power and Protium Green Solutions Ltd.
