Tom is a shipping and energy specialist with particular expertise in dispute resolution and negotiating contracts relating to offshore construction, shipbuilding, floating production and LNG projects.

Tom advises offshore contractors on EPIC and T&I contracts in relation to oil and gas and wind farm installations, as well as on decommissioning.

Tom also advises on long term charters of specialist vessels including on FPSO, FSRU and LNG projects.   

Tom has presented for IBC in relation to FPSO contracts covering design risk, variations, topside integration and commissioning issues. He has also presented for BIMCO on the Supplytime form and its offshore suite of contracts.

Advised owners of a transportation vessel on contractual and insurance issues following a crane collapse causing damage to transition pieces.

Advised contractors in relation to the decommissioning of a damaged metmast (NE Scotland).

Advised LNGC and bunker vessel owners on boil-off warranty claims, including in relation to performance in the first performance period and related issues involving the shipbuilding contracts.

Advised in relation to a dispute concerning alleged deficient performance of an FPSO/its risers on a project in India.

Advised suppliers of equipment incorporated into the turret of an FPSO following allegations of defects.

Advised owners of an FPSO following loss of an umbilical and flow-line in deep water.

Advised an oil products terminal on liability issues following the contamination of unleaded fuel which caused thousands of cars to break down across the South East of England

Advised owners of livestock carriers following non-payment of hire and on withdrawal of the vessels from charter.
