Simon regularly advises clients on policy wordings and coverage disputes across a wide range of lines of business.

His non-contentious insurance work includes advising on policy wordings including energy, marine, construction, business interruption, product liability, professional indemnity and D&O.  He has also developed innovative insurance products including an excess control of well wording, a residual value wording for use in relation to art finance and a warranty liability wording for use on offshore construction projects.

His contentious experience includes successfully acting for the underwriters in the leading  insurance case of the “B Atlantic” before the UK Supreme Court in May 2018.  He has acted on a large number of coverage disputes including in relation to issues such as the scope of the insuring clauses, the definition of claim, the timing of the claim, breach of the notification obligations, failure to comply with general conditions, failure to co-operate and the application of specific exclusions such as allegedly fraudulent conduct.
