Serena is a managing associate in the firm's employment department. She is a pragmatic and energetic employment law adviser who provides clients with advice on a range of legal issues. Serena has advised clients in various sectors on a variety of employment tribunal litigation including successfully defending a high value claim for constructive unfair dismissal, whistleblowing and discrimination.

As well as conducting litigation on behalf of both employers and individuals, Serena advises on pre-termination issues including handling grievances, disciplinaries and sickness absences. She has particular experience in advising employers and individuals on employment law issues arising from criminal and regulatory investigations.

Serena advises on post-termination restrictive covenants and the protection of confidential information. She has also supported employers in large scale redundancy exercises and complex misconduct investigations.

She also negotiates settlement agreements for both employers and individuals, regularly reviewing, drafting and updating contractual documentation as well as providing bespoke training on HR issues for clients.

Many of Serena's clients have international operations. She regularly advises international and national clients on HR issues arising from the sale and purchase of UK businesses.

Serena advises the boards of listed companies on contractual terms for directors and senior management. She also assists with the preparations for board-level exits.

Serena qualified in England and Wales in 2011.

Acting for both employers and individuals in Employment Tribunal litigation. This has included claims for unfair dismissal, discrimination, whistleblowing, victimisation and harassment.

Disputes with employees

Advising employers on how to handle grievances, disciplinaries and complex misconduct investigations. Advising employers and individuals on negotiating amicable exits.

Restrictive covenants and protection of confidential information

Advising employers on the drafting and enforcement of post-termination restrictive covenants and the protection and recovery of confidential information.

Senior management issues

Providing advice to boards of listed companies on the negotiation and drafting of directors' and senior managers' service agreements. Representing companies and individuals in exiting directors and senior managers.

Employee documentation

Preparing contractual and non-contractual documentation for employees, including employment contracts, staff handbooks, policies and bonus/commission structures.

Advising on the sale and acquisition of businesses

Providing advice to companies in the process of selling or acquiring businesses with UK-based staff, including due diligence and contractual drafting. Coordinating foreign law advice for the acquisitions of multi-national businesses.

Supporting the sale and acquisition of real estate

Advising real estate investors on the employment law implications of selling and acquiring interests in real estate, including negotiating employment provisions in property management agreements.
