An asset finance and commercial specialist with a focus on the marine sector. Neil has a wide range of international experience and expertise in asset, project, trade and general finance as well as related commercial contracts such as construction and acquisition contracts and operational matters.

Neil acts across the whole maritime spectrum, covering the full range of commercial shipping sectors, the offshore oil and gas industry and also the highly specialist area of superyachts. Within this area he acts for banks, other financial institutions, owners, operators and related service providers. He has a wealth of experience in highly structured complex financing structures that often involve multiple jurisdictions and systems of laws. He has developed an in-depth knowledge of not just the legal issues, but also the cultural and practical influences that can come into play when working across borders.

He has been able to develop and adapt his expertise to also advise on a variety of international project and trade financings and transactions in Asia, Africa and Latin America.

In the superyacht sector, Neil has developed a reputation as being one of the leading experts on superyacht construction projects and acquisitions. In recent years, he has worked on some of the most prestigious and ambitious projects in the superyacht market. His commercial and pragmatic approach has been valued by clients who want to get their deals done quickly and efficiently.

Advising on a wide range of related commercial issues and activities from ship building contracts, chartering and operational matters, through to demolition and scrapping.

Restructuring and enforcement

Advising banks and owners on a full range of issues that are encountered when transactions get into difficulties, including negotiated restructurings and contentious enforcements and recovery of assets.
