James regularly advises clients on issues regarding financial regulation and compliance (particularly those relating to the SFC and HKMA), regulatory investigations, money lending, data privacy and virtual assets. He has represented several high-profile securities brokerage firms, insurance brokerage firms, fund houses, money lenders and large banks. He has assisted several such firms on revamping their standard form documentation.

James also advises multi-national financial institutions in their lending and asset financing transactions.

James has also developed a niche practice in high value superyachts, having represented a range of individuals and companies in their financing, sale and purchase of yachts, often spanning across several Asian and European jurisdictions.
