Hayley advises clients up and down the global commodities supply chain, including banks, trading houses, energy companies, agribusinesses, mining groups, industrial consumers, and shipping clients, on their international contracts. She has been praised for her technical understanding and ability to transfer that into practical advice for her clients.

She has represented clients in litigation (Court of Appeal and High Court), in international arbitration (LCIA, SIAC, ICC, GAFTA, FOSFA, and LMAA), and in mediation in disputes arising out of a wide range of contractual issues.

Hayley's experience encompasses transactional and advisory work, including advising on the negotiation and drafting of offtake agreements, supply and master trading agreements, repurchase transactions, contracts of affreightment, and charterparties.

Acting for an independent global energy and commodity group in a complex c. US$ 200 – 300 million LCIA arbitration arising out of the breach of a high-volume, long-term fuel oil offtake agreement.

Sunflower oil - FOSFA

Acting for the buyer in a c. US$ 20 million FOSFA arbitration and appeal arising out of the breach of a contract for the sale and purchase of multiple shipments of crude sunflower oil.

Soybeans – GAFTA

Acting for a global agricultural company in a c. US$ 4 million GAFTA arbitration arising out of its buyer's failure to comply with a contractual condition.

Advising a major ore producer on its standard form long-term offtake agreements and charterparty.
