Elspeth is an associate in our employment team and advises both employers and senior executives on a variety of areas of employment law and provides pragmatic advice on issues that arise throughout the employment relationship.  She has extensive litigation experience, having dealt with claims in the Employment Tribunal, High Court and Court of Appeal.

Elspeth is an active member for our Diversity and Inclusion networks and co-chairs the firm's LGBTQ+ network. She has a particular interest in advising clients on implementing inclusive work practises and has advised on claims relating to sexual orientation and sex discrimination.

Elspeth also provides ad-hoc and advice and support to HR teams and carries out employee due diligence for corporate transactions.

Elspeth qualified in England and Wales in 2020.

Employment documentation

Assisting on a multi-national software company on managing their first UK workforce. In particular, preparing new pro-forma contracts, reviewing their employee handbook, dealing with ad hoc personnel queries and negotiating the exit of senior individuals.

Off-payroll working rules

Advising clients on the practical, legal and commercial issues which can arise when engaging contractors via intermediaries, in light of the extended off-payroll working rules. This includes drafting and reviewing agreements with contractors to ensure that they comply with the extended regime.

Employment tribunal claims

Acting for employers in employment tribunal claims involving discrimination, flexible working and unfair dismissal. Recently a secured a strike out application of claims brought for unfair dismissal, breach of contract and disability discrimination against a global luxury retail brand.

Settlement agreements

Drafting, negotiating and advising on settlement agreements for employer and employee clients to ensure that exits are dealt with as sensitively and smoothly as possible.
