Chris has considerable experience in advising clients involved in cross-border disputes, with particular expertise in High Court litigation involving banking, funds and financial products disputes. He has an in-depth knowledge of the complex rules relating to jurisdiction and the enforcement of foreign judgments.

He advises clients on efficient debt recovery strategies and has provided English law assistance to various US law firms in a number of high-value US securities disputes.

Chris’s high-profile experience includes acting for Pakistan in a landmark banking dispute against India arising out of facts dating back to the 1940s. This case was selected by the Lawyer as one of the top 20 court cases to watch in 2019.

Collapse of Arch-Cru funds

Acted for SPL Guernsey ICC Ltd in relation to the collapse of the Arch Cru funds and the related litigation both in the UK and Guernsey, including claims against the investment manager, directors, administrators and auditors of the fund.

Litigation management role

Acting for a global asset manager in connection with a portfolio of RMBS and CMBS assets including management of noteholder claims in England and securities fraud claims in New York and California.

Private equity dispute

Advising on numerous aspects of a dispute between the managers of a multi-jurisdictional private equity fund structure.

Advising a number of European banks on hundreds of recovery and liability proceedings in several jurisdictions arising from multi-billion Euro loan portfolios including the impact of European and national banking and insolvency legislation.

Securities litigation

Acting for a global asset manager in connection with litigation relating to a portfolio of RMBS and CMBS assets including noteholder claims in England and securities fraud claims in New York and California.

Arch Cru (auditors)

Acting for a Guernsey protected cell company and the underlying cells, in respect of the new board's investigation into the collapse of the "Arch Cru" investment structure including significant claim against the auditors of the fund.

Shareholder dispute

Advising a minority shareholder of an SPV owing the majority stake in an energy company in relation to potential breaches of a shareholders’ agreement by the majority shareholder.

Acting for Pakistan in a landmark dispute against India in a multi-million pound widely reported banking dispute before the High Court involving arguments of non-justiciability and multi-jurisdictional complexities.

Advising the operational entity of a private equity fund structure in connection with multiple claims asserted by former employees for discretionary bonuses and carried interest.
