Law firm Stephenson Harwood LLP has signed the Greener Litigation Pledge, which seeks to reduce the environmental impact of dispute resolution practices.
The Pledge is an initiative led by a group of professionals from various law firms, chambers and other dispute resolution practices. Its purpose is to help those involved in litigation to minimise their environmental impact.
"We're committed to establishing more sustainable and ethical practices across our business, and signing this Pledge to encourage greener litigation is part of our efforts," said Sue Millar, partner, Stephenson Harwood. "It is exciting to be involved in this initiative, and our team looks forward to working with other organisations to reduce the long term environmental impact of dispute resolution."
It consists of key commitments to which organisations should aspire, as well as a number of practical steps. These commitments include engaging with the courts and other dispute resolution organisations to support changes designed to reduce the environmental impact of dispute resolution practices and minimising printing and travel wherever possible.
