Stephenson Harwood promotes two to partnership


International law firm Stephenson Harwood LLP has appointed two new partners with effect from today. Cristan Evans is promoted in the marine and international trade group and Simon Brading is promoted in the real estate group. The new partners are based in the London office.

Sharon White, chief executive at Stephenson Harwood LLP, said: "Both Cristan and Simon are highly regarded by clients and colleagues alike and will play important roles in the future development of their respective practice areas. The promotions add to the nine lateral hires that the firm has made over the last year.

Profiles of the new partners:

Cristan Evans – marine and international trade

Cristan joined Stephenson Harwood in 2008 having previously worked at a shipping and commercial litigation boutique.

His core work is the resolution of disputes arising under bills of lading, charterparties and commodity sale contracts. Cristan has conducted litigation before the High Court and the Court of Appeal, and arbitration proceedings under the LMAA, LCIA and UNCITRAL Rules. Cristan's principal expertise is within the shipowners, charterers, and P&I sector. He also has significant commodities experience and expertise.

Simon Brading – real estate

Simon joined Stephenson Harwood in 2011 having previously worked at Wragge & Co LLP.

Simon specialises primarily in investment and development work, with particular specialism in data centres. He has acted on substantial acquisitions, disposals and developments for a range of institutional clients, developers and high-net worth individuals.

Examples of Simon's recent work includes acting for several major pension funds on the sale of high value central London commercial properties, the acquisition, forward funding and development of a major mixed use development site in Oxford Street, London and the development, letting and subsequent investment sale of data centres in Canary Wharf, London.
