Stephenson Harwood partner Malcolm MacDougall has been ranked number 1 UK lawyer by deal volume in Mergermarket’s 2020 global and regional M&A report.

In 2020, MacDougall worked on 14 deals, with an aggregate value of more than US$1.4 billion, advising a range of clients, including Elysian Capital, FPE Capital, Civica Group (backed by Partners Group), BGF, Alexander Mann Solutions (backed by OMERS Private Equity), RiverStone Europe’s management team (on the sale of RiverStone Europe to CVC Capital Partners), the management team of Aura (backed by Baird Capital), and Pelican Capital.

MacDougall is a corporate lawyer, who specialises in private equity transactions. These range from acting for private equity houses in the mid-market and lower mid-market, to acting for management teams on large cap deals. His experience covers all aspects of private equity deals, including management buyouts, management buy-ins, bolt-on acquisitions, investments and exits.
