Stephenson Harwood partner Kate Brearley co-authors seminal text on employee competition

Law firm Stephenson Harwood announces the publication of the fourth edition of Bloch & Brearley: Employment Covenants and Confidential Information; Law, Practice & Technique. The text is co–written and co-edited by partner Kate Brearley, with key contributions from fellow Stephenson Harwood partners, Kiersten Lucas and Purvis Ghani.

Published by Bloomsbury Professional, Bloch & Brearley combines comprehensive technical legal analysis and highly practical guidance on this complex and rapidly evolving area of law; the use of checklists, precedents, flowcharts and case studies translate theory into practice.

"Previous editions have been acclaimed as the definitive 'must read' guide for practitioners – including HR professionals – in the field of employee competition, and have been cited with approval by the Judiciary," said Kate Brearley. "Our new edition takes into account the significant developments in this field. Drawing on our many years' experience both in drafting restrictive covenants and advising on employee competition disputes, the book will assist employment law practitioners, HR professionals and company directors responsible for business protection in navigating this technical and fast-moving area of the law."

Since the first edition 25 years ago, the book has been a collaboration between Stephenson Harwood employment partner Kate Brearley and Selwyn Bloch QC of leading employment set Littleton Chambers. With the significant expansion of the law in this field, for the fourth edition Brearley and Bloch have been joined by a number of contributors: from Stephenson Harwood, partners Kiersten Lucas and Purvis Ghani, and from Littleton Chambers, barristers Jeremy Lewis, Gavin Mansfield QC, Adam Solomon QC, Craig Rajgopaul and Alexander Robson.
