Law firm Stephenson Harwood LLP has partnered with Swansea University to be the exclusive sponsor of its Oil, Gas and Renewable Energy LLM degree.

As part of Stephenson Harwood's partnership with the University, senior associate Cathal Leigh-Doyle will provide a number of guest lectures on offshore renewable energy, and the firm will offer a one week internship for two students. The Oil, Gas and Renewable Energy LLM degree gives students an in-depth understanding of the complex legal and commercial aspects parties come across daily in the onshore and offshore energy sectors.

"Swansea is well known for its energy and maritime links, and this is reflected through the University's wide range of maritime and offshore energy courses," said Alex Davis, head of marine and international trade department (MIT), Stephenson Harwood. "As a result, the Oil, Gas and Renewable Energy LLM plays an important role in preparing and inspiring many of the next generation of energy professionals, and our MIT practice is excited to play its part in supporting their development through our partnership with the University."

“Stephenson Harwood is a leading international law firm with a stellar reputation and impressive array of clientele,” said Dr Kurtz-Shefford, deputy director of Shipping & Trade LLM Programmes, Swansea University. “We are proud and privileged to be associated with them. We hope that this partnership continues to grow, to the benefit of all parties, and most especially to our growing, young talent of future energy lawyers.”

Founded in 1920, Swansea University is a research-led university that offers a wide range of courses including foundation and undergraduate degrees, and research postgraduate programmes. To find out more about the LLM, click here.
