Law firm Stephenson Harwood has advised Pelican Capital, the private equity firm, on the acquisition of Wheelhouse Advisors, formerly Cordium Accounting.
Pelican Capital and investors acquired Wheelhouse Advisors, the compliance and accounting business, from ACA Compliance Group earlier this year. ACA Compliance Group is a US-based provider of risk management and technology solutions to the financial services industry.
“We are very pleased to have supported Pelican Capital on this deal, and look forward to working with them on future deals, as they look to back ambitious management teams,” said Malcolm MacDougall, partner, Stephenson Harwood. “It was particularly pleasing to be able to get the deal over the line, notwithstanding current market conditions, and to use our long-standing expertise and experience as private equity lawyers to bring a wider commercial understanding to the transaction.”
The Stephenson Harwood team was led by private equity partner Malcolm MacDougall, with support from senior associate Chris Manning, and associates Rajiv Kakkad and Lydia Zakrzewski. Private equity partner Gabriel Boghossian, associate Arturas Jakubovskis and regulatory partner Jake Pidcock also advised. Additional assistance was provided by the acquisition finance team and teams across the firm’s employment, commercial and IP practice areas.
