Law firm Stephenson Harwood LLP has advised IntriCon Corporation on its acquisition of Emerald Medical Services.
IntriCon is a NASDAQ-listed US medical device business, and Emerald is a Singapore-based manufacturer of cost-effective complex catheters, with a wide-scale distribution network across Europe, Asia and the United States. IntriCon’s acquisition of Emerald will strengthen its position as a leading international designer, developer and manufacturer of complex micro-miniature catheters for the global medical and healthcare industry.
“It was encouraging to complete this complex deal with Intricon, at a time when the curse of COVID-19 has been hanging around a number of deals,” said Tom Platts, partner, Stephenson Harwood. “There were numerous structural changes, and some ingenious coronavirus drafting to circumvent certain logistical issues – but we got there, and the firm’s Southeast Asia M&A team demonstrated again a real strength in healthcare M&A, doing difficult deals, and working across time-zones to lead transactions from the US into the region.”
The Stephenson Harwood team was led by Tom Platts, with support from associates Philippa English and Laura Baker. Further assistance was provided by partner Sheetal Sandhu and associate Kelly Pang.
