Stephenson Harwood advises Affinity on Grieg Asia deal

Linkedin

Stephenson Harwood (Singapore) Alliance has advised UK shipbroker Affinity (Shipping) LLP on its acquisition of Grieg Shipbrokers Asia.

The transaction, which is part of Affinity’s major expansion of its dry bulk chartering activities in Asia, will merge Affinity’s chartering desk in Singapore with Grieg’s operations in China. As a result of the deal, Affinity will also inherit a joint-venture that Grieg has with Singapore-based Flaship Asia, a boutique broking shop active in capsize chartering. Collectively, all the entities will trade under the name Affinity-Flaship.

The Stephenson Harwood team was led by Singapore-based corporate partner Tom Platts, who was supported by associate Laura Baker, with further assistance from partner Sheetal Sandhu and associate Lena Ow in Singapore, and associate James Day in London. PRC law advice was provided by partner Zoe Zhou, and Hong Kong advice was provided by partner Jane Ng and associate Winnie Choi.
