Stephenson Harwood (Singapore) Alliance has advised TotalEnergies on its complex joint venture, and associated commercial arrangements, with Japanese energy group, ENEOS.
The joint venture will develop onsite B2B solar distributed generation across Asia over the next five years, focusing initially on Japan, India, Thailand, Vietnam, Indonesia, Philippines, Cambodia, Singapore and Malaysia. It will capitalise on the strengths of both global companies – by using TotalEnergies' global footprint and expertise in solar distribution generation and ENEOS's expertise in renewables and presence in Asia – to reduce the costs of decentralised solar generation solutions offered to industrial and commercial customers, and make it a key competitive service provider in the region.
"We are delighted to have supported these two major renewables players in establishing their joint venture to assist B2B customers in achieving their sustainability goals," said Tom Platts, partner, Stephenson Harwood. "The transaction demonstrates the firm's commitment to assisting clients in developing renewable energy business and in supporting the global energy transition."
The Stephenson Harwood (Singapore) Alliance team was led by partner Tom Platts, who was supported by of counsel Helen Rhind-Hufnagel and associates Ming Hui Gan, Cong Ning Chan and Emily Law. Further support was provided by Virtus Law partner Sheetal Sandhu and associates Eric Lai and Alvin Ngai.
