M&A activity hit record high levels in 2021, despite a disruptive 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic. For the first quarter of 2022, global dealmaking has reportedly fallen to its lowest level since the start of the coronavirus pandemic as surging inflation, tougher regulation and the conflict in Ukraine has led to a slowdown in what had been a record period of mergers and acquisitions. It is arguably now more important than ever for dealmakers to carefully consider macroeconomic, political and legal/regulatory developments as well as potential distressed M&A opportunities in their M&A strategy.
Starting 4 May 2022, Stephenson Harwood's M&A lawyers, joined by guest speakers including economist Professor Trevor Williams (the former chief economist at Lloyds Bank Commercial Banking) and Stuart Deacon (managing director with Alvarez & Marsal restructuring practice in London), will look to provide an overview of the key trends and developments that could impact M&A deals in the remainder of 2022 and into 2023 over a series of five webinars. It is vital that investors and deal teams are well prepared in this era of disruption and transformation.
