Laurence Ho joins Stephenson Harwood as partner

Law firm Stephenson Harwood LLP has strengthened its private wealth team with the arrival of partner Laurence Ho, who joins the firm's Hong Kong office.

"Laurence's arrival marks an important step in the growth and development of our international private wealth practice," said Stephenson Harwood partner James Quarmby, who leads the firm's private wealth team. "His experience and understanding of US tax and estate planning matters will complement our existing capabilities, and enables us to expand the support we offer our clients."

Mr. Ho's practice is focused on international tax, trust and estate planning matters for high net worth individuals, families, estates and fiduciaries. He has considerable experience advising on US expatriation and pre-immigration matters, as well as counselling individuals and families on their US tax compliance and foreign bank account reporting obligations. He joins Stephenson Harwood from Withers where he was a partner.

"Laurence's arrival is an exciting development for the private wealth team in Asia," said Stephenson Harwood partner Ian Devereux, head of the firm's private wealth team in Greater China. "Laurence and Erik Wallace, who joined our private wealth team as a partner in Hong Kong last year, are among the most active US trusts and estates attorneys in the Greater China and ASEAN region. Laurence's Cantonese and Mandarin language skills will be a valuable asset to our clients."

Mr. Ho's appointment follows the arrival in Hong Kong, in June 2016, of private wealth partner Erik Wallace.
