Dan Smith joins Stephenson Harwood as partner

Law firm Stephenson Harwood LLP has strengthened its commercial litigation practice with the arrival of partner Dan Smith, who joins the firm in London.

Smith's practice primarily focuses on large and complex international banking and finance litigation. He advises financial institutions and corporates on high-stakes commercial disputes and investigations, particularly in the areas of investment banking, insolvencies, and bribery and corruption. He joins the firm from Latham & Watkins, and brings almost 25 years of private practice experience.

"Litigation is part of Stephenson Harwood’s DNA and an area we're focused on strengthening as part of our wider growth plans," said partner Ed Davis, co-head of Stephenson Harwood’s commercial litigation practice group. "Dan is an experienced litigator with an excellent reputation in finance disputes. Not only has he been involved in, and led, some of the biggest cases of recent years, his focus on funds and financial institutions perfectly complements one of our key strategic areas of focus. His arrival enables us to continue to expand our litigation capabilities.”

Stephenson Harwood’s award-winning and highly regarded international dispute resolution team advises on the full range of commercial disputes. The team represents clients – including financial institutions, multinational corporations, professional firms, private equity funds, asset managers, pension funds and ultra high net worth individuals – in High Court litigation and international and domestic arbitration, co-ordinates proceedings in multiple jurisdictions, and advises on various regulatory and other investigations.
