Consultation conclusions: competency framework for intermediaries and individual practitioners

Linkedin

On 18 June 2021, the SFC published the conclusions to its consultations on the proposed enhancements to the competency framework for intermediaries and individual practitioners (the "Conclusions"). The consultation was launched on 11 December 2020, which related to proposals to update the entry requirements for persons seeking to be licensed to carry out regulated activities, and ongoing competency standards for intermediaries and individual practitioners. Respondents generally agreed with the proposals in the consultation paper. In light of the feedback received from market participants, the SFC has, in the Conclusions, set out further amendments to the competency framework, which we have summarized in our latest client alert.

The proposed enhancements will be reflected in the revised Guidelines on Competence and Guidelines on Continuous Professional Training, and will take effect on 1 January 2022.
