Adam Culy joins Stephenson Harwood as partner

Law firm Stephenson Harwood LLP has augmented its professional liability and regulatory practice with the addition of Adam Culy, who joins the firm as a partner in London.

Culy joins from BDO, where he was the accountancy firm’s General Counsel for twelve years, and focused on accountancy claims and regulatory investigations.

“With increased regulatory scrutiny of the accountancy sector, we’re seeing a greater demand for senior lawyers with the skills and experience that Adam brings,” said Tony Woodcock, head of regulatory, Stephenson Harwood. “Our firm has the combined strength of market leading professional liability and regulatory lawyers, delivering excellence and experience in litigation and regulatory matters. The addition of Adam will add to this strength and enable us to enhance further the support we provide to our professional services clients.”

Prior to joining BDO Culy practised as a New Zealand criminal prosecutor and then a UK professional indemnity lawyer.

“Adam’s arrival is an important step in the further development of our top-tier professional liability and regulatory practice, and is further evidence of our commitment to strengthening it,” said Paul Thwaite, co-head of Stephenson Harwood’s commercial litigation practice group.

Stephenson Harwood has a long established practice advising accountancy firms, across the range of issues which arise for them, and do so through a team of specialists drawn from across practice areas. The firm has a track record in handling complex, high value and sensitive matters for accountants, as well as in risk management and on non-contentious issues.
