Data Protection update - July 2013

Welcome to the July edition of our Data Protection update, our monthly bulletin on key developments in data protection law.

In this issue, the proposed 'right to be forgotten' is again addressed within the context of the guidance sought by the Spanish Audiencia Nacional from the ECJ.

Separately, we provide further updates on the EU DP Regulation, most notably the response from influential political figures to ensure the EU DP Regulation remains firmly on the political agenda ahead of the elections of the European Parliament in May 2014. We also look at other proposed amendments to the framework, including allowing national DPAs to have further discretion in imposing sanctions.

Finally, we look again at Google's privacy policy and threatened enforcement action by the ICO.

Find out more.
