Our Southeast Asia practice is centred around our offices and associated offices in Singapore and Jakarta. We act for a broad range of clients and our lawyers are used to working on complex cross-border deals. We work equally effectively with local law firms and managing cross office teams in Southeast Asia.

We have had a substantial presence in Singapore, our Southeast Asian hub, for 26 years and that office has immense strengths in corporate, finance and dispute resolution covering the region. Our 60 lawyer team in Singapore, covering international and permitted areas of Singapore law, has built an enviable reputation for investment advice, shipping, offshore and aviation, mergers and acquisitions finance and disputes, and many of our individuals are recognised as leaders in their fields.

AirAsia

Advising AirAsia Group Berhad on its US$768 million sale of Merah Aviation.

Arcus Infrastructure Partners 

Advising Arcus Infrastructure Partners on its acquisition of Peacock Containers, and a follow-on investment and acquisition of a portfolio of c. 9,000 tank containers and associated operating and financial leases from Gem Containers Limited.

ASEAN Industrial Growth Fund 

Advising ASEAN Industrial Growth Fund on its investment in KMC Solutions, a Philippines-based co-working and flexible workspace provider.

BW Epic Kosan 

Advising a syndicate comprising five banks and financial institutions, on a US$155 million loan facility to part-finance Epic Gas Ltd's acquisition of Lauritzen Kosan's fleet of 17 owned-vessels. The loan facility was a key component of a wider corporate transaction between Epic Gas and Lauritzen Kosan, which will result in the renaming of Epic Gas to BW Epic Kosan.

BW Offshore

Acting in the finance of an Indonesia flagged FPU known as 'BW Joko Tole' by various banks, including ING Bank NV, ABN AMRO Bank NV and PT Bank Sumitomo Mitsui Indonesia.

Campana Group 

Advising Campana Group, a well-known regional broadband sub-sea capacity provider, on its US$80 million and US$60 million investment rounds led by Mitsui & Co., Ltd. 

Cebu Air, Inc

Advising as counsel to Cebu Air, Inc. on the creation of Value Alliance, an alliance of 8 low cost carrier airlines to adopt a common technology platform to enable interface between the booking systems of the different airlines in the alliance.

Chemopharm

Advising Malaysia-headquartered Chemopharm Sdn Bhd., a leading pan-Southeast Asia medical devices distribution group, on the sale of a majority stake to the Everstone Group, via its platform Everlife.

Corporation Service Company (CSC) 

Advising CSC, a global provider of business, legal, tax and digital brand services, on its acquisition of the FirstCorp Group across Southeast Asia.

Crédit Agricole Corporate and Investment Bank 

Advising Crédit Agricole Corporate and Investment Bank, in relation to a significant senior secured financing of five very large ore carriers for Polaris Shipping Co., Ltd.

Duff & Phelps 

Advising Duff & Phelps on its acquisition of Borrelli Walsh, a leading specialist restructuring, corporate recovery, insolvency and forensic accounting firm.

Engie (previously GDF Suez)

Advising Engie on its acquisition of Keppel FMO in Singapore and Qatar from Keppel Integrated Engineering and on its joint venture interests in the Filinvest district cooling project in the Philippines.

Equinix Group 

Advising Equinix Group on a S$7 billion corporate and debt restructuring. Equinix is the world’s largest data centre and co-location provider, operates in 52 markets across five continents. 

European bank

Assisting a European bank and related entities in recovering assets and vessels stuck in different jurisdictions when the charterers filed for insolvency protection in Indonesia and Singapore.

German-based international shipping bank

Advising a German-based international shipping bank as agent for a syndicate of lenders in the US$488 million debt restructuring of a Singapore-listed shipping trust.

Hafnia 

Advising long-standing client, Hafnia Limited, in relation to a US$374 million sustainability-linked term loan and revolving credit facility. The facility is provided by a syndicate of ten banks, led by Standard Chartered Bank.

Iflix 

Advising the iflix group, a high-profile pan-Asian video-streaming service operating in 13 countries in Southeast Asia, on its sale of its assets to Chinese conglomerate, Tencent Holdings. Also advising the iflix group on its group restructuring, and obtaining court approval of a pre-packed scheme arrangement in Singapore.

Japanese Operating Lease financings 

Advising a specialist in international transport finance on two separate Japanese Operating Lease financings of four Airbus aircraft, with a combined value of US$120 million. The aircraft are on lease to airlines registered in Hungary, Taiwan and Turkey.

ING Bank 

Advising ING Bank on a series of highly complex and innovative multi-tiered debt US$162 million and US$145 million KOBC guarantee backed financing.  

Mirae Asset Securities (HK) Limited 

Advising Mirae Asset Securities (HK) Limited on a US$450 million acquisition and financing of three Boeing 777 aircraft, on lease to China Airlines Limited.

Prosperity International

Advising on aggregate investment of over US$150 million in exploration and mining operations in the Philippines, Indonesia, Malaysia, Brazil and Canada.

Stella International Holdings

Advising HKSE-listed Stella International Holdings, a Taiwanese premium quality footwear designer and manufacturer, on the establishment of new manufacturing facilities in the Philippines, Myanmar, Indonesia and Bangladesh.

Transportation Partners

Advising Transportation Partners on a structured US Ex-Im Bank bond and loan financing of up to 29 B737-900ER aircraft to be operated by Malindo Air, Batik Air, Thai Lion and Lion Air.

Triple P Capital

Advising private equity firm Triple P Capital on its acquisition of Contemi Solutions, and its controlling stake investment into The Praxis Company.
