Thomas Böhringer is an associate and foreign registered lawyer (Germany) in our Singapore office. He advises banks, sponsors and other financiers in all aspects of shipping and offshore financing.

Thomas engages with ship financing matters spanning multiple jurisdictions and has experience in dealing with complex international transactions. He regularly acts for shipowners as well as financiers.

Prior to joining the firm, Thomas worked in the legal department of an international shipping company in Santiago de Chile and Copenhagen as well as for a major UK law firm in Germany.

Thomas studied law at Ludwig Maximilian University of Munich and Universidad Católica de la Santísima Concepción, Chile. He completed his legal clerkship at the Regional High Court Oldenburg, Germany, and a German boutique firm specialising in shipping as well as our Singapore office.

In addition to his native German, Thomas is fluent in English and Spanish.

US$100 million tanker fleet refinancing

Representing the lead arranger in the refinancing of a fleet of aframax tankers ultimately owned by a Southeast Asian investment corporation and on long-term charters to an international oil major.

Loan facilities / deliveries

Acting for different shipowners in relation to security release, amendment of loan facilities or loan administrative matters as well as newbuilding deliveries

Acting for a syndicate of Korean banks in the context of the refinancing of three Very Large Ore Carriers (VLOCs) on long-term charter to an international commodities conglomerate. 

US$28.8 million refinancing facility

Representing a Hong Kong based lender in relation to a refinancing and the reflagging of four bulk carriers.

Scrubber-fitted newbuildings

Advising a European bank in relation to the post-delivery financing and delivery of four specialised, scrubber-fitted bulk carriers. The mandate included a review of the ship building contracts, the scrubber purchase and installation contracts as well as necessary arrangements under the finance documentation.
