Suraj represents clients in the English courts and international arbitrations across a broad range of disputes, particularly in the energy, construction and marine sectors. He also assists corporate and nonprofit clients to negotiate, and draft, business and project critical contracts.

Suraj is an international dispute resolution lawyer with experience representing clients in the renewable energy, construction and marine sectors. He represents clients in the English courts, international arbitrations under major rules, and in contract negotiations. He also advises clients on dispute avoidance strategy during projects.

Suraj has particular expertise advising clients in the offshore energy sector, and representing them in arbitrations. He was seconded to an industry leading renewables EPCI contractor for six months, to negotiate contracts for the second largest offshore wind farm project in the world.

Suraj has a keen interest in marine energy technologies. He has recently advised on contractual, regulatory and contentious issues relating to: autonomous vessels, remote operations, remote handling equipment and floating foundations. He is a member of the Firm's market leading marine autonomy practice.

Suraj is also engaged by clients to present training to legal and project teams on aspects of contract law, legal privilege and SUPPLYTIME.

Suraj is a fluent French speaker.

€100 million complex finance litigation and freezing injunction

Successfully represented an industrial company in obtaining default judgments, a worldwide freezing injunction and in enforcing various financial instruments in several jurisdictions against a high-profile financier and their investment vehicles in the English High Court.

Heavy lift vessel construction disputes

Advised the buyer of a flagship offshore asset in disputes and negotiations with the builder, the mission equipment supplier and the crane supplier. Disputes related to delay, defective works, third party rights and termination.

Various creditors

Successfully represented various creditors, including a professional services firm and different construction contractors, in several multi-jurisdictional debt recovery proceedings in the English courts, Nigerian courts, and in international arbitrations.

Shareholder dispute

Represented the owner of a retail group in relation to breaches of a shareholder agreement.

LNG project charterparties

Successfully represented an offshore contractor in LMAA and SIAC international arbitration proceedings for claims made against it for mobilisation costs and terminated charterparties following a cancelled LNG project.

Recovery of drilling equipment

Successfully represented a drilling contractor in LMAA arbitration to recover unlawfully detained equipment in Congo.

Defective engineering claim

Represented an engineering company in LCIA arbitration proceedings for alleged defective works on an offshore wind project.

LCIA arbitration

Successfully represented a leading education provider in an LCIA arbitration worth approximately £30 million, relating to the purchase of an educational asset.

Renewables EPCI contractor

Six-month secondment to negotiate multimillion euro transport and EPCI contracts on the second largest offshore wind farm project in the world. Advised in respect of a heavy lift vessel charter, subsea cable protection systems, hammer spread, marshalling yard services, and testing facilities.

Advised an offshore survey contractor on the contractual framework for a remote survey operation in the Baltic Sea.
