Sophie is an associate in the aviation, rail and leasing team, with a focus on rail as well as a broad range of experience in different areas of the asset finance sector.

Sophie has experience of a range of different types of matters in the rail industry. She has experience of negotiating, drafting and advising on commercial rail contracts. She has also been involved in different stages of rolling stock procurement, from the bid stage to negotiating the manufacture and maintenance contracts to advising on ongoing contracts.

She regularly advises train operating companies on various matters relating to their franchise or concession agreements, both in the bidding and operational phases.

Sophie also has finance experience, both in the rail industry and in other sectors, including aviation and more general asset finance and leasing.

Advising lessors on a variety of aircraft acquisitions and disposals.

Acting for financial institutions and lessors on various cross-border commercial debt financing transactions.

Rolling stock procurement

Advising on various stages of rolling stock procurement, from the bid stage, to negotiating and drafting the manufacture and maintenance contracts, to the conditions precedent and closing process.

Franchising and concessions

Advising on train operating companies’ bids for franchise agreements, concessions and direct awards.

Operational advice

Advising clients during the operational phase of their contracts (including franchise agreements and contracts for rolling stock manufacture and maintenance), providing support on various aspects including contract interpretation, commercial advice and variations.

Infrastructure financing

Acting for the equity financier on the financing of a major improvement and enhancement project at a rail depot to facilitate the introduction of a new fleet of trains using an innovative financing structure.

Commercial contracts

Acting for clients on a wide variety of commercial matters, including procurement tenders, drafting contracts with suppliers, preparing variations, advising on interpretation of provisions and disputes.

Aircraft leasing

Advising lessors in relation to various operating leases, sale and leaseback transactions and lease novations.

Aircraft trading

Advising lessors on a variety of aircraft acquisitions and disposals.

Commercial financing

Acting for financial institutions and lessors on various cross-border commercial debt financing transactions.
