He has written a number of books on the region, including A Short History of South East Asia and Added Value - the life stories of Indian Business Leaders.

Peter was awarded the Medal of the Order of Australia (OAM) in 1994 by the Australian Government for his services in developing Australian business interests in Southeast Asia. He holds professorial appointments at Curtin University in Perth, Australia, Great Lakes Institute of Management in Chennai, India and Sri Sharada Institute of Indian Management in Delhi, India. He is also a Fellow of the Australian Institute of Company Directors (FAICD) and sits on the boards of a number of listed and non-listed companies, including several with business operations in ASEAN. Earlier in his career he was Asian regional managing partner of a major Australian law firm.
