Michael gained a breadth of dispute resolution and litigation experience acting for various UK insurers in all manner of disputes in the courts of England and Wales (including regulatory proceedings, criminal and civil proceedings and mediation). Following his relocation to the Middle East, Michael now regularly acts as the lead associate on large scale high profile international disputes in various courts and arbitration centres (including DIFC-LICA, ICC, ADCCAC, DIAC). Consequently, Michael's clients have also required representation in enforcement proceedings in the DIFC Courts whereby applications to set-aside favourable arbitral awards have been successfully defended and recognition orders obtained.
Alongside his contentious work, Michael is often engaged to advise on or negotiate the contents of contracts as well as negotiations prior to proceedings being initiated.
Due to the international nature of Michael's case load, Michael has a great deal of experience in working alongside expert counsel to protect his client's interests in the national courts of various jurisdictions (including Kazakhstan, Iran, Egypt, Libya, Qatar, Iraq, Saudi Arabia and the UAE).
