Mazin is a bilingual (Arabic and English) associate in the marine and international trade team based in Dubai. He advises and represents both domestic and international organizations in disputes related to shipping, insurance, and commercial matters.

He is qualified in England and Wales and is a registered legal consultant in the United Arab Emirates.

Mazin provides advice to owners, charterers and sub charterers on their rights and obligations under charterparties and in disputes relating to unpaid hire, demurrage, exercise of lien, additional war risks premiums, engine breakdowns, and force majeure. He also represents International Group P&I Clubs in cases involving vessel abandonment, cargo  misdelivery and other shipping related issues.

He has significant experience representing international shipowners regarding limitation of liability throughout his career and was a member of the team who successfully obtained a landmark decision before the Dubai World Tribunal. This was the first reported case in the UAE, acknowledging a shipowners ability to establish a limitation fund before the UAE courts.

He has extensive experience prosecuting and defending claims in the UAE local courts at all levels, as well as acting in arbitrations under the LMAA and DIFC-LCIA rules (prior to its amalgamation into the Dubai International Arbitration Centre).

Advised an Egyptian company on the liability for demurrage, deadfreight and additional war risk premiums under English law.

Acted for sub-charterers of a vessel in a dispute on demurrage and exercise of lien under English law before an LMAA Tribunal.

Acted for an international shipping line on the implications of presentation of a forged bill of lading under English law and the abandonment of cargo at a UAE port.

Acted for a number of leading freight forwarders in claims before courts in the Middle East Region.

Advised on and filing ship arrest applications before UAE local courts.

Acted for a reputable international yacht building company in a dispute with a yacht owner on painting defects before Qatari Courts.

Advised an international construction company on the liabilities of shareholders, directors and managers in connection with its subsidiary.

Acted for a leading regional insurer in a claim for total loss of a yacht under construction worth approximately US$ 15 million.

Advised a local insurer on the consequences of failure to disclose material information by a ship operation company following a claim for total loss of a vessel under a marine hull and machinery policy.

Advised a major local insurer on its rights following a breach of warranties under a marine hull and machinery policy.

Acted in a vessel abandonment case in Fujairah to repatriate the crew and commence a class action with respect to their wages, and claim the expenses incurred by the P&I club.

Acted for P&I clubs and advising them on collection of unpaid premiums.

Advised P&I clubs and their members on cargo misdelivery issues.
