Maria is an associate in our contentious trusts and pensions dispute team. She has regularly represented both beneficiaries and trustees in complex (on shore and offshore) trust litigation. Maria also has extensive experience acting in high value professional negligence claims in a pensions context.

Maria regularly advises private individuals and corporate trustees on issues relating to disclosure, distributions and breach of trust claims. She also has experience acting in domestic probate claims regarding the validity of will(s).

Maria has defended a number of professional negligence claims brought by pension trustees against their advisors. She has advised both PI insurers and the Assured.

Acting in strike out and reverse summary judgment application in Honda Group-UK Pension Scheme Trustee Ltd v Mercer Ltd [2022] EWHC 3197 (Ch) based on s.14B of the Limitation Act. 

Acting for Representative Beneficiary (representing over 80,000 members) in construction case relating to whether RPI is appropriate index for calculating pension increases [BT v British Telecommunications Plc V (1) BT Pension Scheme Trustees Limited (2) Linda Bruce-Watt [2018]] .

Acting for a pension consultants and legal advisors in high value professional negligence claim and achieving successful outcome at mediation.

Acting for Representative Beneficiary in a rectification claim concerning early retirement provisions.

Advising client beneficiary against allegations of fraud of a disputed Will with a Russian spouse, with levels of distrust between the parties resulting in a bespoke settlement agreement.

Advising client on challenging a Will which involved dealing with complex issues on sham marriages and immigration laws.

Advising client in bringing a claim to challenge the validity of will(s) and lifetime gifts by reference to capacity and undue influence. 

Advising a director on contentious issues relating to an Employment Benefit Trust and the removal of conflicted trustees.

Advising a private individual (beneficiary) relation to the removal of an offshore Trustee and the split of the trust funds with the other beneficiaries.

Advising client in relation to a high value probate dispute against the other co-executor.

Advising corporate trustee in respect of a significant and complex breach of trust claim. 

Advising corporate Jersey trustee in respect of distributions to be made to missing beneficiaries.
