His client base includes leading ship owners, charterer, bunker suppliers, operators, P&I clubs, insurers and ship agents for whom he handles complex disputes arising from charterparties, vessel arrests, cargo and bunker claims, collisions, groundings, vessel repairs, ship abandonment and contractor liability issues.

Mahmoud has represented clients in numerous litigation cases before local Middle Eastern courts, particularly in the UAE. Furthermore, his expertise extends to successfully handling arbitrations throughout the region, with notable experience in Egypt and the UAE.

Providing support to a diverse marine services company in recovering unpaid bunkers supplied to vessels by initiating vessel arrests, followed by filing substantive claims against the owners and other relevant parties. Securing multiple judgments in favour of the client and subsequently enforcing them against the vessels/security deposited by the owners.

Assisting the client in arresting a fleet of vessels for which they provided repairs, however, the owner failed to settle outstanding amounts. Successfully executing vessel arrests, leading to the recovery of unpaid invoices through the sale of these vessels.

Assisting a prominent regional oil trader in pursuing a collision claim against a major shipping line involving damages to the client's rig caused by a vessel collision. Initiated the claim against both the vessel and the shipyard to seek compensation. The litigation concluded with a settlement reached between the involved parties, favouring the client.

Representing a regional insurance company and its reinsurers in addressing a claim for indemnity under reinsurance policy. This claim arises from a dispute between the original insured, a major provider of marine and offshore services to the shipping and energy sectors, and a ship management agent, regarding defective repair and maintenance works performed on a vessel.

Advising an international group P&I club concerning several issues including unpaid insurance premiums following the abandonment of a vessel offshore Fujairah since April 2019. Assisted with the recovery of unpaid insurance premiums by the vessel’s operations and owners owed to the club and also arranged for the MLC payments and repatriation of the crew.

Assisting a P&I insurer concerning a vessel involved in a collision and facing a claim for repair costs from the other involved vessel.

Representing a leading war risks insurance syndicate in a claim worth US$700 million concerning a Marine Hull War Risks insurance policy. This case revolves around a dispute between the vessel owner and a prominent insurer in the region regarding the disappearance of the vessel off the coast of the UAE.

Assisting an engineering, construction and installation firm specialising in offshore vessel mooring systems to secure a payment order against the contractor for supplied products. Assisted the client in filing a substantive claim to recover unpaid invoices for services rendered to the contractor. Also defended the client's position against the counterclaim filed by the contractor.

Representing a UK creditor in a dispute concerning unpaid invoices related to a subcontract for constructing a telemetry system in the UAE.

Representing the manager of an international bunker supplier who was accused in a criminal complaint filed by another business regarding alleged fraudulent activities. Following the Court's verdict of innocence for our client, we are currently working with them to draft and register a criminal complaint against the other company and its shareholders for misrepresentation and fraud.
