Kathryn is an associate in the property litigation team. She provides advice on the full spectrum of contentious property matters including lease renewals, dilapidations issues and tenant insolvency. She also has experience advising on nuisance issues, trespass and sale contracts. She acts on all stages of a dispute, providing strategic advice throughout.

Kathryn acts for both landlords and tenants on a broad range of property litigation matters. She regularly advises landlords on vacant possession strategies to enable redevelopment, using suitable tactics to put pressure on tenants to enable vacant possession to be obtained quickly.

She has particular experience advising landlords on tenant insolvency issues, including reviewing and advising on company voluntary arrangements and the implications of tenants going into administration or liquidation. She has also acted on a number of high value dilapidations claims, involving complex factual and valuation issues. She is also developing her practice in professional negligence disputes.

Kathryn recently acted for a landlord client on one of the first rent arbitrations under the Commercial Rent (Coronavirus) Act 2022 dealing with a seven figure level of arrears.

Kathryn is a member of the Property Litigation Association.

Dilapidations

Kathryn has recently acted on two dilapidations claims worth over a £1 million developing expertise in this area. Both claims involved factually complex points of law and valuation issues.

Forfeiture

Kathryn has acted on a number of large forfeiture claims including one involving multiple tenants and sub-tenants. She acted as lead associate on this claim successfully defending an interim injunction brought by over 20 claimant tenants and sub-tenants.

General asset management

Kathryn acts as the lead associate providing advice to M7 Real Estate on a wide range property litigation matters across their portfolio of industrial estates. This includes advice on dilapidations, tenant insolvency, forfeiture and 1954 Act lease renewals
