Korean shipbuilder

Representing a Korean shipbuilder on the sale of two 250-ton navy Coast Guard vessels to the Ministry of National Defence of Colombia.

Korean offshore manufacturer

Advised a Korean offshore manufacturer (as Claimant) in dispute with a Middle East government entity (as Respondent) under an engineering, procurement, construction installation, commissioning and start-up (EPCIC) contract.

Shipbuidler's liability

Advised on a shipbuilder's liability under a warranty clause. Buyers of a vessel claimed US$100 million in relation to losses suffered due to an incident which occurred during the vessel's maiden voyage. Achieved a successful outcome for the shipbuilder, to the extent they were only liable only for the repair costs of the alleged defect and all other claims were dismissed.

Advising a Korean shipbuilding company regarding a claim made by a super major oil company relating to the technical defect claim on a vessel.

Representing a Korean offshore company in setting up a joint venture with a Russian company to build a shipyard in Russia.

The dispute was valued at circa US$60 million and settled under ICC arbitration rules.
