Jefferson has acted for companies, banks and other financial institutions in syndicated, bilateral and club vessel loans (for pre/post-delivery financings, ECA-backed financing, re-financings and restructurings) and sale and leaseback transactions. He has also advised and represented clients in both the buyers' and sellers' capacities under ship sales and purchase agreements.

Jefferson regularly engages with matters spanning multiple jurisdictions and has experience in dealing with various international maritime authorities as well as correspondent counsel across different jurisdictions, including, amongst others, the Isle of Man, Hong Kong, the Bahamas, Panama, the Marshall Islands, Liberia, Niue, Malaysia, Indonesia and Singapore.

Jefferson has also advised lenders in general banking and finance and asset finance transactions, and assisted in a major bank’s transfer of its loan portfolio from Singapore to Norway.

Financing

Acting for the Singapore branch of a European bank in a US$58 million post-delivery term loan facility and a US$27.3 million secured amortising term loan facility to the Liberian subsidiaries of a major shipowner.

Refinancing

Acting for a Singapore bank in the refinancing of more than US$200 million facilities granted by a Singapore bank to an Asian company formerly listed on the Singapore Exchange. 

Ship finance

Acted for banks (as lenders) and vessel owners (as borrowers) in bilateral loans made for the purchase of vessels or the refinancing of existing loans.
