Hayley's experience includes acting for and advising commodity traders, agribusinesses, natural resources companies, shipowners, charterers, P&I clubs, cargo interests and shipyards on a range of issues and disputes arising from sale of goods contracts, charterparties, bills of lading, bunker supply contracts, shipbuilding and superyacht contracts and various financing agreements. She has been praised for her technical understanding and ability to transfer that into practical advice for her clients.

She has represented clients across a range of arbitral forums, including LCIA, SIAC, ICC and LMAA, as well as in High Court litigation in the Commercial Court and the Admiralty Court. She also has experience of mediation and settlement negotiations.

Advising various international trading and shipping companies in numerous LMAA arbitrations covering all aspects of dry shipping (charterparties, COAs and bills of lading).

Representing the successful claimant owners in a complex claim for the repudiation of four time charterparties worth approximately US$20 million.

Acting for a renowned tanker company in an LMAA arbitration in relation to the cancellation of an MOA (Norwegian Saleform 2012) for the sale and purchase of a tanker.

Representing the defendant charterers in High Court proceedings arising out of the delivery of allegedly off-spec bunkers.

Yacht / helicopter accident - BVI Court

Advising the defendant yacht owner in BVI Court proceedings concerning a helicopter accident at sea off the coast of Norway.

Shipbuilding

Advising a Korean shipbuilder as English co-counsel in respect of warranty claims arising out of alleged defects in the cargo containment systems of two LNG carrier newbuilds.

Demurrage and freight

Advising the shipping arm of one of the world's largest energy and commodities trading houses in relation to its outstanding demurrage and freight files.

Advising one of the world’s largest energy and commodities trading houses in an LCIA arbitration concerning force majeure issues in the context of the sale and shipment of iron ore pellets.
