Partner focusing on yachting and asset finance, Ezio specialises in non-contentious work with particular emphasis in legal issues pertinent to financing, ownership structuring and registration of cruise ships, superyachts, commercial vessels as well as private jets.

Ezio represents owners, lessors, lenders, ECAs and shipbuilders on all aspects of law relating to shipping finance, shipbuilding and sale and purchase of new build projects and second-hand ships. His secondment to the legal department of a leading French investment bank has given him a particular insight into the structuring and execution of complex financing structures for LNG carriers, wind farm service operations vessels, ice-breaker cruise ships and superyachts.

He is a regular contributor to publications and seminars on maritime law and shipping finance. He is ranked as an “Associate to watch” by Chambers and Partners.

Ezio speaks Italian, English and French. He is qualified in England and Wales and admitted to the French (Paris) and Italian (Vicenza) bars.

Yachts

Acting for financial institutions, owners and yards on the financing, construction and operation of luxury yachts.

Cruises

Representing owners, banks and investment funds in leveraged financing relating to new buildings, merger and acquisition of cruise companies, negotiation of construction contracts. 

Commercial vessels

Representing owners and banks in structuring complex multi-jurisdictional corporate structures, financings, review and negotiation of ancillary documents (charter parties, management agreement and sale and purchase contracts). 

Offshore

Representing sponsors, banks and owners in arranging the secured financing pre and post-delivery of LNG, FPSO, FSO other off-shore projects.

Disputes

Advising banks, owners and insurers in admiralty proceedings, cargo claims, enforcement of securities and restructuring.

Superyacht construction

Advised a private client on the construction of a 50 meter superyacht with an innovative design and diesel-electric hybrid power built by Tankoa Yachts S.p.A, an Italian yard based in Genoa (Italy).

Yacht financing

Represented the lender on the secured financing of a 50 meter yacht, with provision for the transfer of ownership to and leasing between Maltese subsidiaries.

Pre and post-delivery yacht financing

Acted for a European bank in the pre and post-delivery financing of a 37 meter yacht built by an Italian shipyard.

Sailing yacht

Advising a European client in closing a building contract for an about 42 meter sailing yacht in the context of complex corporate restructuring arrangements of a well-known builder.

Predelivery financings

Representing a major European bank in the pre-delivery financing of two maxi-yachts built at Italian yards.

Builder’s working capital

Assisting Italian yacht builders in structuring financing structures for their working capital needs during construction of maxi-yachts.

​International bank

Advised on the English and Italian law aspects for  five luxury yacht financings, supervising all other shipping features including the pre and post delivery financing, management arrangements, registration and security package.

50m yacht financing

Acting for the borrower in the refinancing of a 50m award winning motor yacht.

MOA litigation

Acting for the buyers in finalising the purchase of three luxury yachts under three MYBA Memorandum of Agreement.

Standard form of lease

Advising a major French bank in reviewing the standard terms and conditions for the lease of small pleasure crafts.

Compagnie du Ponant/GIEK

Advised on the financing of four luxury explorer vessels by way of French tax lease supported by GIEK, the Norwegian export-credit agency.

Bridgepoint/Compagnie du Ponant

Advised on the financing of 4 luxury cruise vessels, by way of French tax leases supported by SACE, the Italian export-credit agency.

Bond issue

Advising the lease arranger in negotiating inter-creditors arrangements in connection with the structuring of a $550 million bond issue.
