David is a managing associate in the banking team based in the firm's London office. David advises a mix of lenders and borrowers on a variety of financing transactions with a particular focus on real estate and leveraged matters.

David's practice focuses primarily on real estate and leveraged finance transactions. On the real estate side, David often acts for the main clearing banks as well as other financial institutions and debt funds and has experience dealing with a mixture of single, multi-property and development facilities. For leverage finance, David mainly acts for sponsors, in particular those focussing on mid-market deals.

Prior to joining Stephenson Harwood, David was an associate at one of Scotland's leading law firms. During his time there he led on broad spectrum of banking matters working both within Scotland and alongside firms in London and overseas as local counsel.

Advised LXi REIT plc (a real estate investment trust listed on the FTSE 250) in connection with the financing aspects of its merger with Secure Income REIT plc, which included facilities of up to £1,215,000,000.

Schroders/ ESG Loan

Acted for Schroders Capital in respect of a £33 million loan made to refinance The Maltings Shopping Centre in St Albans and which included specific ESG measures. 

Bowmark Capital

Acted for Bowmark Capital (a mid-market private equity investment firm) on the financing aspects of various acquisitions and the provision of senior and super senior facilities including for the Cornwall Insight, TotalMobile and Kubrick Group companies.

Elysian Capital

Advised Elysian Capital on the finance aspects of its acquisition of Deeside Cereals and Wholebanke Limited.

Acting for lenders and borrowers on a wide variety of real estate investment matters across Scotland and England.

Investment trusts

Advised The Royal Bank of Scotland in connection with a mixture of single and multi-currency revolving credit and terms loan facilities provided to numerous FTSE listed investment trusts.

Leveraged finance

Acted for Kbro Inc (a Canadian entity) in respect of facilities provided by the Toronto Dominion Bank used to fund the acquisition of the Fishers laundry group.
