David has acted for borrowers and lenders on a wide variety of transactions involving major UK and international financial institutions and has extensive experience working on cross-border matters.

Before joining Stephenson Harwood, David was an associate for over six years at one of Scotland's top law firms. During that time he led on a broad spectrum of banking matters within Scotland and worked closely with firms in London and overseas as local counsel.

David has advised clients in respect of real estate, leveraged and development finance matters. He has also acted for banks providing facilities to numerous FTSE listed investment trusts and has in the past specialised in loan portfolio sales (acting for both sellers and buyers).

Acted for a Canadian borrower in connection with facilities used to acquire a well-known hotel in St. Andrews.

Advised The Royal Bank of Scotland in connection with a mixture of single and multi-currency revolving credit and terms loan facilities provided to numerous FTSE listed investment trusts.

Loan portfolio sales

Advised Lloyds Bank plc in respect of various loan portfolio sales to, among others, Cerberus Capital Management and Kennedy Wilson.

Energy

Acted for Tailwind Energy in respect of facilities provided by Mercuria used to acquire various oil and gas assets in the North Sea.

Renewables

Provided cross border support in respect of the Beatrice Offshore Wind Farm (the largest offshore windfarm in Scotland).
