Cindy is a tri-qualified lawyer in Singapore, Hong Kong, and England & Wales, and has experience working in Singapore, Hong Kong, and Shanghai.

Cindy acts in commercial shipping, offshore, and international trade disputes. She has extensive experience in handling a full range of dry shipping and wet shipping matters, and acts for owners, charterers, and P&I Clubs. She is also involved in various cross-border commodities trading and related trade financing disputes. She has also had experience working on heavylift related matters.

Apart from marine and international trade work, Cindy also has experience with managing a broad range of Chinese-related commercial disputes for both Chinese and foreign parties, including joint venture and shareholder disputes and hotel management disputes.

Cindy has had experience in numerous litigation and arbitrations across various jurisdictions, including Singapore, Hong Kong, China, London and Mauritius.

Prior to joining Stephenson Harwood, Cindy practised at the shipping and international trade department of the largest law firm in Singapore.

Advising owners and charterers in various COVID-19 related issues, including crew change, crew infection, and quarantine time.

Successfully acted for a logistics and freight forwarder in claims brought by heavylift trucker on disputes arising out of renewable energy logistics project for transportation of windmill sets to a wind farm in Sweden.

Advising on claims and liabilities arising out of discharge of oil in Hong Kong waters.

Advising a major liner in relation to claims arising out of a large-scale container collapse incident.

Acting for charterers in an arbitration under the SIAC Rules and seated in Mauritius, involving a US $170 million dispute under a long-term contract of affreightment. 

Acting for residents of a Pacific Island in their claim in the Singapore High Court against an LNG carrier for coral reef damage.

Acting and advising bunker suppliers in claims against vessels, including arrest and other enforcement proceedings, and on contentious and non-contentious matters arising out of the collapse of bunker trading companies.

Acting for charterers in disputes arising out of liquefaction of iron ore cargoes. 

Acting for a Chinese oil and gas enterprise against a major South Korean conglomerate in an SIAC arbitration for claims arising out of a contract for sale of LPG cargo.

Acted for the chemical arm of a Chinese oil and gas enterprise against a major Korean LPG trader in an arbitration to successfully enforce a multi-million dollar claim relating to the sale and purchase of LPG cargo.

Acting for one of China’s Top 500 Companies in multi-million dollar disputes in connection with sale of oil cargoes by a major commodity trading house, including arbitration in Singapore and Court proceedings in Singapore, China, and England.

Advising on of China’s biggest iron ore importers on various cross-border trading disputes, including a dispute with a Norwegian trading company under a long-term take-or-pay contract for iron ore pellets.

Acting for the Singapore arm of a leading Indian multinational conglomerate in an SIAC arbitration concerning disputes on documents tendered under a letter of credit. 

Advising a Shenzhen-listed company on shareholder disputes arising out of its investment in a Singapore joint venture company. 

Advising a Hong Kong-listed company on disputes arising out of its purchase of shares of a wholly-owned subsidiary of a Singapore listed company, including arbitration and Court proceedings in Singapore.

Advising a Singapore-listed company on disputes arising out of a profit warranty provision in a share purchase agreement. 

Advising and acting for a global hospitality company on its disputes with hotel owners under various hotel management agreements for hotels in China and Laos.
