Charlotte is an associate in the marine and international trade department who specialises in the resolution of shipping disputes.

Charlotte has acted for owners and charterers in complex charterparty and bill of lading disputes. Charlotte has also acted in a series of multi-million dollar disputes arising out of the operation of a drilling rig off South America. 

Charlotte has acted in proceedings before the High Court and the Court of Appeal and in arbitrations under the LMAA, LCIA, UNCITRAL and ICC Rules.

Charterparty disputes

Charlotte has worked on various matters involving charterparty disputes over issues such as payment of hire, demurrage and damages for detention, off-hire and damages for repudiatory breach.

Off-spec bunkers

Acting for a major energy and commodities company and their subrogated insurers in relation to the supply of allegedly off-spec bunkers.

Container ship fire

Acting for sub-time charterers and P&I insurers in relation to a large container ship fire and providing advice / negotiating settlement agreements in relation to cargo claims for salvage indemnities and particular average losses.

Speed and consumption

Acting for owners in successfully defending claims for breach of the speed and consumption warranty in a time charter.

LNG Dispute

Acting for Owners in relation to a claim for excess boil-off gas.
